Trapped in Your Presence

A daughter poem from a father, recounting the days as he arrives home to the open, loving arms of his daughter.

Upon entering the door
Of our home,
You greet me
With celebrity fame,
Yelling daddy, daddy
Without reservation
Seeking only a kiss and hug in return,
Trapped in your presence
I melt,
Comforting you in my arms
Holding you as the day you were born,
You are my daughter
Heir to a queen’s throne,
Princess in my kingdom,
Tis love for you I pronounce
My future queen.
